Radishes

We had a nice relaxing afternoon of picking, cutting, and scrubbing beautiful bright red and white radishes. The kids played, occasionally helping chop and sort here and there, and the cat lounged in the grass. I enjoyed visiting with our sweet 90 year old neighbor while we worked. For years and years this man has harvested radishes and dropped them off to all his friends around town. Now because of his age and health he no longer can do it and that's where we were happy to step in and help. We really had a wonderful time. Luke and Ava absolutely love him! Thank you Earl for sharing with us your knowledge and love of gardening and life.

We ended up with almost an entire 5 gallon bucket full! And probably ate 20 pounds of the crunchy spicy goodness just while we worked.

Ready to be delivered around to friends.:)

Playing Catch Up

Just a word of warning this is a very long post! It probably should have been like 3 or 4 separate ones, sorry...

So this is how I feel after these last few weeks...

totally "buzzausted" (that's how Ava says exhausted).

They have been packed full with back to back birthdays, a graduation, Mother's Day, planting the garden, trip to the dentist, two weeks worth of fretting over a Sacrament meet talk, and one sick little boy. It's been fun. Now that Sunday is over I can enjoy life once again. :) This was how last Sunday went: instead of waking up to the alarm clock, I woke up to, "Mom I don't feel very...blaaaaa (I don't know how to type the sound of throw up spewing all over pour Luke and my hallway carpet.)" Yeah, so that's how it started and then I gave my talk and all my weeks worth of fretting was over in those few minutes. Came home and grilled some burgers. Luke was feeling all better by that evening. The carpet no longer reeks of puke, and I am back to my usual self. No more super late nights of writing or waking up in the middle of the night with wonderful ideas for my talk that keep me up and then don't make any sense to me by morning. And gone is that horrible sick feeling that lingered with me for 2 whole weeks because of my annoying fear of speaking. I survived it all! Wow, I am just now realizing what a baby I am. It sure doesn't take much to turn my world upside down. There really aren't very many times I get thrown outside my little tiny comfort zone anymore. I like it that way, being comfortably boring or is that lazy? If is I'm okay with being lazy. :) I do have to say it was nice to be studying and reading my scriptures and Ensign every morning. I'm going to try to keep it up.

So now that I'm caught up on sleep and my nerves are in check again. I can finally enjoy sitting back and looking at my heap load o pics from the past few weeks and some that I got from LuAnn and Sarah.

Jeremy letting the kids sit on the front of the tractor for a ride. They just love it. When Ava was tiny she loved to just lay on Daddy's shoulder while he drove the tractor, it would put her right to sleep. Oooh, I can't believe how fast time flies by!

My mom made a big birthday dinner for Scott, Thomas and Me. (Our birthdays are all within the same week.) Complete with a big birthday cake. It was really nice to all be together. But I don't think anyone took a single picture, darn it!

Because LuAnn figured we had already had enough cake that week she made me this lovely "chocolate"cake. Isn't beautiful.:) Well it was beautiful...not much of it is left now. Let's just say it has definitely been a week that called for a huge basket full of chocolate. I loved that they even lit a candle in middle of the heap.
I loved my Mother's Day. :) The day before we were at the hardware store down the street and Jeremy told Luke that he could go over to the garden section and "pick mom a flower." So Ava and I walked over with him to look around. Luke was really excited, he kept saying, "Don't look over here mom it's a surprise!" He walked here and there searching for the perfect flower. A few minutes later he told me to close my eyes and when I opened them, there he stood in front of me with this huge branch of beautiful red roses, that he had carefully "picked" for me. I took the the VERY LARGE broken off branch of roses tried not to seem to shocked or upset as I told him..I don't know something like,"Oh Bones you're not supposed to REALLY pick the flower!" The whole time I'm scanning the place trying to see where the heck he got it from so I could stash the giant thing. Sweet little Luke just looked at me with big eyes and then started explaining to me, "No, mom it's okay, dad said I could pick you one, it's okay mom!" The cute little thing had picked me the biggest most beautiful flower(s) he could find. Oh just I love him. Right about then Jeremy came walking in and I showed him my beautiful "picked" flower. We both tried to hold back the laughter. After all was said and done we ended up leaving the store with a little pink geranium... that I just love because Luke also picked it out for me.

Dian graduated with her Masters Degree! Yeah Dian!!

You know how long graduation ceremonies can get... Luke passed the time by taking lots of nice pictures. :)
All the rest of the pictures are of Luke and Ava being spoiled by their Grandmas and Grandpas:

Some pictures LuAnn gave me of their fun St. George trip with the kids a while back.
They drove up to the airport to watch the planes.
Just lounging in the hot tub.

They took them to a cool dinosaur museum. When Jeremy and I met them at the hotel Luke and Ava were digging away at these fun little plaster bricks that they got from there. They had little hidden plastic dinosaur bones in them. They were really cool.

Watching Tom and Jerry cartoons before going to bed.
They had the time of their lives down there...I mean just look at them chillin' on their tubes like they own the place! It just cracks me up. :) Thanks again!
My Mom grabbed up Luke and Ava for a day at the Zoo with Karen, Sarah and the cousins. They had such a fun time going with all of them. Thanks guys!

My Dad knows how much Luke loooves trains, so he planned out a fun day of riding the train up to Salt Lake. We got some lunch at McDonalds. Then stopped off for a tour of Papa John's old work, the federal court building, where we heard some pretty cool stories.:)
Ava got to give a ticket to a cop. :)

The train went really fast! The kids loved every minute of it!
